Sonic and the Freedom Fighters - Issue 2

I really don’t understand this comic. It feels like someone had a bunch of cool visual ideas but didn’t have any idea how to do the leg work to ease a reader in, it’s cool to see all these characters together but there’s so many at once, and so many plotlines kicking off at the same time that there’s no grounding element, Should I read this like a SatAM world? No, most of the characters are in their reboot design, should I look at this as a post-reboot? No that doesn’t work, sallys in her pre-reboot design and there are Fleetway characters? Is it a merging of StC and Archie with modern designs? No, Amys just being introduced and has her classic look over her modern proportions and eyes. What is this Eggman supposed to be like when he has scratch and grounder, but also grimer and the sonic the continuation version of receptionik? And now we have Brutus only the second issue and the phantom ruby and It’d all be cool if I knew anything about this version of the characters but Sonics talking about murder and amy has chaos powers or something and it’s all just… noise? I can’t get invested if I don’t know what these characters are.
