You know, what’s funny about this issue is:
– Assuming that Sonic is 15 years old in the comics and Robotnik ruled Mobius for around 11 years, he is, at most, 4 years old in this story;
– Taking into account that Tails is 10 years old in the comics (per the letters section of issue #1 of Tails’ miniseries) and that Sonic is 4 in this story, Tails shouldn’t be alive yet!
Why do I get the feeling that the source is mearly a looking glass to other zones? If so, it would explain why he was willing to make an alliance with robotnik 1.0, because he saw a possibility that would secure the future of his kingdom…
