i love the second chapter of this annual, the artwork is genuinely such a treat!! the contrast between the greens of the master emerald against the reds and purples with knuckles and the background look amazing, and the lineart is so clean too!
Love love love how Kit has slowly become the more evily inclined of the pair, what a subversion of expectations!
I spend too much time thinking about how lonely and boring Knuckles’ day to day must be. He seems perfectly content, but I miss him on adventures he’s left out on. Its sweet the rest of the gang are being shown visiting him

I feel like Mimic needs a hug. Like I know he’s an awful person, but I feel like that’s as much a response to his trauma that he could eventually work his way out of hypothetically. Also am I the only one who felt like Whisper was crushing on him a little bit? her being 100% into the shapeshifting, making her little dedication to him a little longer, and going out of her way to help him integrate into the team definitely give me the vibes. (I do expect this to be downvoted to hell lol)

Honestly, I’ve been waiting since mimic was introduced for him to have a short story about him or smith. He has so much potential, im hoping he gets more attention

Honestly always looked down on the Idw comics, not as hateful or “this isn’t my Sonic comic” but none of the characters or stories really clicked for me other than the metal virus and imposter syndrome arcs. But this my friend, is by far the best annual and one of my favorite issues in this series. For starters I like how kit’s more sadistic nature is making more of a impact on him other than “ooh cool eye when he’s serious ohhhhhhh” no he see’s the flaws that surge points out, and changes her plan to meet his more selfish standards, all without telling the person he supposedly supports. It’s great and makes him more of a character and less of a plot device like how he was earlier. Mimic’s story by far outclasses this and knuckle’s story. I absolutely love how whisper is such a jarring contrast to herself currently, at worst it’s a lil unrealistic and at best it’s funny asf. Oh and mimic not having an external conflict that “triggers him” and instead being an internal conflict is what sells me. Mimic is by far the best new idw character I swear. Oh and knuckle’s story’s is okay nothing special really

also i want an infinite redemtion arc and that the phantom ruby was controling him the entire time, and he has a new friend called saphi who was sealed in the divine saphire
its weird how we havent either a character from the past and brought into the present yet and a modern version of fang thats a lot more serious and was the one to kidnap surge and kit for dr starline yet

Really like the one with Knuckles. Also, we get MORE of Whisper’s backstory! We only got a taste of it with the Whisper & Tangle miniseries, but now we get the rest! More Mimic backstory too. This was an amazing annual, 10/10!!
