Honestly always looked down on the Idw comics, not as hateful or “this isn’t my Sonic comic” but none of the characters or stories really clicked for me other than the metal virus and imposter syndrome arcs. But this my friend, is by far the best annual and one of my favorite issues in this series. For starters I like how kit’s more sadistic nature is making more of a impact on him other than “ooh cool eye when he’s serious ohhhhhhh” no he see’s the flaws that surge points out, and changes her plan to meet his more selfish standards, all without telling the person he supposedly supports. It’s great and makes him more of a character and less of a plot device like how he was earlier. Mimic’s story by far outclasses this and knuckle’s story. I absolutely love how whisper is such a jarring contrast to herself currently, at worst it’s a lil unrealistic and at best it’s funny asf. Oh and mimic not having an external conflict that “triggers him” and instead being an internal conflict is what sells me. Mimic is by far the best new idw character I swear. Oh and knuckle’s story’s is okay nothing special really

Really like the one with Knuckles. Also, we get MORE of Whisper’s backstory! We only got a taste of it with the Whisper & Tangle miniseries, but now we get the rest! More Mimic backstory too. This was an amazing annual, 10/10!!

Reading Mimics story let me completely forget the other two stories. I love Mimic, so thank you for bringing him on screen!

This is probably the best annual yet. Also, Whisper saying “Can I blow them up?” really caught me off guard.

personally i’m kind of looking forward to the possibility of mimics redemption…
maybe him realize his feelings are guilt, and killing whisper, or realizing doing so will probably be his breaking point, or realization it was never the diamond cutters, it was him.
because I feel the whole (wait yeah, he is pretty damn arrogant) “i’m colder than a lake, watching others struggle, blah,blah,blah. may or may not be another mask… and those memories are telling him that’s not who he is, and is shattering the mask he makes his face.

Yes this mercenary is almost ignorant of feelings and emotions. Even if he respects someone (like Zavok), he is still ready to stab them in the back. It is surprising that with such stereotypes he is neither a villain nor a hero, but rather something worse! Many of his qualities are very similar to Starscream from the Transformers franchise. Although I also hope that he will have a chance to improve and redeem himself, but with a character like his – it is unlikely, but still possible.
Hyper Sonic is canon. Westopolis and City Escape are basically brothers now lol. Mimic can jump off a clip for all I care. Most of the art went to Sonic using Chaos Control

omg when I read the mimic story I was happy to see whisper so happy and mimic really creeped me out by breaking the 4th wall! I can’t wait to see this drama built up trainwreck of an ark to build up in November!

thoughts
surge and kits story: first, why does it say “downtown westopils” but there’s side cars and it looks just like city escape so what’s up with that. but besides that, seeing kit and surge try being heroes as part of their redemption arc and its funny how kits hair looked when surge messed with it. but this a very good story
knuckles story: first the art is amazing well done. the story was really good seeing knuckles us the master emerald to see what everyone was doing I didn’t know he could do that and looking back at it, if it wasn’t for the master emerald knuckles wouldn’t be the person he is today. really good story
mimics stoy: bro DON’T GET ME STARTED. mimic is my favorite idw villain and this was a perfect backstory. first the art at first why did the background character look like old timey cartoon characters but later the art gets really good. and seeing how he wanted to be an actor was funny and makes sense. also seeing how whisper used to be so happy and positive was nice to see and her rection to see mimic transform into her, remined me of the Patrick Suprise meme. and see how he came to be overtime and see how the old member of the diamond cutter was nice. and the feels meku poster was funny. this might be my favorite story in this one shot really good can’t wait for more
The Downtown Westopolis thing is probably there, since City Escape is not the name of the actual area in which City Escape takes place in. It’s the name of the stage.
City escape level is Central City. At the beginning of SA2, when Sonic jumps out of the helicopter, the soldiers communicate on the radio to report that they are flying over the capital. and in the shadow the hedgehog game they say that the capital is central city and that the white house is there.
They’re literally giving us spoilers for the future issues! 😮
