Say what you want about the Sonic Comic! No arguments plz, No Opinion is the right one you know!
Here are my opinions on the big 3 Sonic comics:
The Archie run started pretty good, although after issue 50 the quality started to go all over the place. It wasn't until Ian Flynn was brought on board that it went back to consistantly good, even after the reboot. 8/10
Fleetway was weird. Not very faithful and some bad writing, but it sure knows how to suprise you. 6/10
IDW has had some amazing stories and art, but not only has more limitations than prior series, but it has some very tame filler in between big stories. 8/10
Archie, for all its ups and downs, is my favorite story ever (pre-reboot). I would change almost nothing about it because it's so special. An easy 98%
Fleetway I have never read.
IDW is one of the worst pieces of media I've ever consumed. Awful writing, and inconsistent, all-over-the-place art. 10%
I like the comics, I just wish that the good ones didn't get canceled (like Sonic Mega Drive and Archie) and that characters didn't keep disappearing from the comics. also they need to bring back some characters (like bro where's my girl marine and why is honey gone again?) and they need to keep writers the same because it just makes the stories strange after
sega doesn't seem to care what the fans want in terms of comics, but I kind of get it since they want to keep the canon safe
*"and that characters didn't keep disappearing from the comics" meaning IDW characters. Archie did a very good job of accounting for past characters. they always reappeared after a while
Preboot Archie: loved the series when I was younger, and that still remains now that I’m older. There were a lot of ups and downs, but to me that made it feel more special - like a real comic. 9/10
Reboot: Not as good as Preboot, but in my opinion it wasn’t that bad from what I read. 7/10
Fleetway: Never read them. N/A
IDW: From what I read, it’s alright. Not my favourite, but it’s ok. I wish they could give the writers more freedom but they have those stupid mandates in, meaning that the writers might never get more freedom. The first couple issues to me were a bit bland so I dropped it, then picked it up again and forced myself to at least read through the Metal Virus. And I did, and it wasn’t too bad. 7.5/10
I love them both
The comics are literally a Sonic game but in a book. The fights feel like boss fights.
