My problems with Post-SGW Archie Sonic and how I would fix it

My biggest problem with Post-SGW Sonic is - a wasted dramatic potential, because of mandates from SEGA. Without it, Ian Flynn could‘ve explore dark sides of some heroes, boosted by death of Pre-SGW World. Death of Pre-SGW is equivalent of 9/11 both for Sonic fan base and comic book industry, and many readers was pissed of from this. But even having lost a bunch of characters and the ability to continue the old story, the comic could have retained one of the main advantages of the old universe - the spirit and drama. Which, alas, because of SEGA, did not happen. Especially, in case with Sonic, the main character, which name is also the title for his comic book. The loss of old characters and the interruption of the story in a half-word could be compensated by a strong drama. Which was in the old universe, and worked well under Flynn. After all, because of Sonic's tragedy, he, Tails and Amy (and all the game characters, except Cream) became orphans, he failed his duty to protect the world, and all those who are not in the new universe are dead. And the new world does not suffer much from the old universe killer (Eggman). This should be a strong impetus for the hero, similar to the death effect of Gwen Stacy, multiplied a billion times. So many opportunities for the strongest drama, man! But no! Because of the stupid mandates, all these possibilities are missed. And local not typical Sonic become a - typical Sonic.

Here's another problem I have with this reboot - the wrong priorities. Instead of exploring the new world, it was necessary to show how the heroes are trying to recover from the death of the old world and many of its inhabitants. To this complaint I can add a slightly more childish mood, inappropriate humor and a bit of Diana Skelly's drawing. I'm don't mind her art style, it's pretty expressive and fun, but - wrong place, wrong time. The first thing I would correct is priorities. Instead of exploring the new world, it was necessary to show how the heroes are trying to recover from the death of the old world and many of its inhabitants. Especially Sally, who lost her mother again. Because of which, she and Sonic would have had the most difficult adaptation to the new world, struggling with the pain that happened to them, and the thirst for Eggman's death bursting in their souls. Eggman could be hated by them, just like Ken Penders by fans. This way, long-time readers can easily sync up with the main characters, and learn to experience and overcome such pain together with them. Which would make the comic a conditional session with a psychiatrist. For further compensation, the humor should also be toned down (but not removed completely), and the tone should be made more morally adult and even cruel in places. As for Sonic and Sally as a couple - if their relationship does have to be broken off, it can be done like this. They can break it off not just like it turned out in the end, but because of a sense of guilt before the old world and all those who died. The memory of the old world should at least partially be preserved just for the sake of drama. A complete break in relations with Sally should be one of the firewood for the flaring up of his dark side.

Just right thanks Dark Gaia's energy and Werehog form, which can make him so badly wish Eggman’s death. Because of this, he acts on him like the black suit on Spider-Man, and tries to turn him into a villain and Dark Gaia's pawn. (Thus, DG could be shown more clever villain) This rage over the death of the old world can be masked by rage over the suffering of the new world. Because of this, he begins to be rude to others (even his friends over time), disobey Sally's orders, jeopardize the team's plans, and beat Egg Soldiers to death (in both forms). And the first time he turns into a Werehog, he sees his friends as similar to Eggman. Which should say how strong his rage was, which he tried to keep under control. And this rage would be fueled by moments when Sonic sees the suffering of civilians, the failures of his friends, and new disasters due to the split of the planet. Sonic would learn not to give in to his rage, which, however, is not easy. Thus - during the Shattered World Crisis, the heroes would save not only the world, but also Sonic's soul. If you want to fight evil - first defeat it in yourself. In which he would also be helped, for example, by Chaos and Tikal, and even Shadow (thus, we can get Werehog VS Shadow fight). Who would remind him of the lessons that they themselves learned in their first appearances. In order to reach out to that very kind hero who helped them realize these lessons.

Now, here we are - I am especially ready to kick the 284th issue in this reboot (I'm so hate that issue), and the stupidity that was at the end of this Saga. I mean that the heroes at that time had already collected all the Emeralds, and Sonic did not even think about transforming into Super Sonic, and thus instantly fix the planet quickly, and even end the war by exploding the Death Egg with Eggman on board. So that the people he protects would not suffer anymore. Because of which, the success of saving the planet was under threat of collapse, and NICOLE, perhaps, died (well, since the comic was canceled, I prefer to stick to this assumption). Sometimes I have a feeling that in the previous, 283rd issue, Flynn planned to show the moment where Sonic wanted to use the Emeralds to finish off Eggman, but Sally forbade him to do so, because Egg's political immunity would not leave them without undesirable consequences. And that she also wants to finish him off forever, but cannot. But SEGA forbade him to do so, and rejected this moment. And even if this was not planned, this stupidity could have been eliminated by inserting a similar moment. I even remember that the one who liked this 284th issue compared it to the 175th issue. And this, in my opinion, is nonsense. Because the level of logic in the 175th issue is much higher, and there were no such stupidities. Plus, if Flynn's Pre-SGW Sonic has all 7 Emeralds, he would did it, what Post-SGW Sonic didn't. In order to correct the ending of Crisis, I would add the moment I suggested. And so, after Sonic would have defeated Egg Dragoon, Eggman was in his hands, the hero finds himself on the verge of crossing the permissible, but - the good in him wins, and he refuses revenge. And the rest of the ending of Crisis can remain approximately the same. The world and the hero's soul are saved, but the hero will have to sweep up the consequences of his rage and apologize to many for a long time.

This is the end of Part 1 of my fixes. See ya later in part 2.

Yeah, it felt odd having Sonic and friends not even think about the lives and experiences they lost because of the reboot.
