Aaand i finished reading Archie Sonic. What to say, a very cool journey, of course not everything was good, but i think experiencing a media is not just liking the good written things but also what feelings it gives you, and through its highs and lows it was a cool journey. A shame it got interrupted not once but twice. I honestly wanted to see continued both pre-SGW and post-SGW storylines. The first one had gotten to a point where “shit gets really serious and dark” and it is a shame it was cut in half, and with Flynn era it is when the stories became consistent in quality (although a bit brought down by the earlier foundation of various authors bringing their own canon and penders’ bs). And the reboot instead since except the first like ten-dozen chapters is more detached from all the previous mess, it had immediately idea what it wanted to be, had a very cool spin on sonic unleashed story and the arcs were all really fun. Also the new characters, or new interactions of old ones where cool. I think fellas like honey,breezie etc could have become neat recurrent cast, a shame we will never see them again. Maybe even more of a shame this got cut, cause at least pre-boot had its stories cut after a long run, here instead just after its early years, so it is even more of a “what could have been”. Now i think i am going to read post-boot sonic universe and maybe archie mega man. I already read IDW so maybe i am going to read fleetway idk. But both archie and IDW are cool, although objectively speaking i think IDW is better, more cause it is more consistent (yeah ik it is a bit of an unfair comparison since archie is 290 issues and IDW just 81. But still…if the first two eras didn’t exist it would’ve been a different Story). But still…feelings speaking i love both, again, don’t decide to like something just because “it is more well written yada yada” but also what feelings they give you. And both were amazing journeys

March 3, 2025: And so, my journey begins. It has taken me a long time to get here (and a lot of web searches), but at last! After hearing amazing things about the Archie comics (and seeing a few fandubs on YouTube), my journey to become a true Sonic fan begins!

July 11, 2025: And so, my journey ends. It has taken me a long time to get here. I have learned so much and have met so many lost/unknown/erased characters that deserve their time in the sun once more, or at least let us say a proper goodbye.Us fans will continue their stories if we can becase they deserve justice!
Thank you, Sonic groups for telling me about this comic series. Thank you, Shadow Falls fandub video I watched a few months before I started this journey for making me curious enough to start (and introducing me to a super cool villain who deserved an actual ending instead of teasing us with a possible final story).
And thank you all for being apart of this journey with me. I am sad it is over and I wish there was more to give everyone a proper ending and goodbye, whether it was the classic or reboot.You can tell they had stuff building up for so many.
Once I sort out these bittersweet feelings, maybe I will do a reread of the comics. I could even make this a yearly thing every March 3. Something to think about.
I guess it’s time for the IDW. Wish me luck, everyone! See you there!

Kind of a sad swan song for Archie Sonic but it was a cute last few chapters. I like what i’ve seen of IDW just fine, but Archie will always be the peak for me. I will miss the edge and messiness of the earlier issues. I don’t think Sonic needs to necessarily be “mature” but the aspects of the comics that dealt with heavier themes were always my favorite.
Losing the freedom fighters with still so many incomplete arcs is harder than I thought it would be. Sally and Sonic will never have true closure, and unfortunately the others never really reached the characterization I was hoping for post SGW.
Although they were a small part, I’m sad Cassia and Clove never got a full resolution either. Them, as well as Spike and rest of the fake sonic fanclub, had some really interesting stuff introduced that we will never get to see again.
Most of all I will miss the edge Sonic used to be written with. A hero for fun more so than because he’s destined for it. Egotistical to an arrogant degree and selfish at times in a way that made him so fascinating to read about. I don’t know if i’d say that was ENTIRELY lost in IDW, but Archie does it in a way I haven’t seen since.

There’s something deeply sad about Amy’s excitement to go on the next big adventure. I can’t believe it’s over.

Well after reading everything post 160 I can say that its ok. I still prefer IDW but archie isn’t as bad as I thought and I liked the throw back to the classics
on one of the cards it has chip and dark gaia!?!?!
This is easily the worst part of reebot Archie, its just retellings of the classic Sonic games but without the gameplay, its just lame, we could’ve gotten the issues that were going to be #292, #293, #294 and instead we get… this.
of course, they cant do Sonic 3 (I know why) but its like the music from Sonic 3 in Origins
The last page of Archie ends off with SonAmy, lol. Shame that Genisis of a Hero will never be completed but it was good to end things with an even 290.
