I know it’s a dead horse, but I’m 99% sure that the main story was at least somewhat inspired by Fleetway Super Sonic.
Also the off panel story was amazing 10/10

As others mentioned, this feels very Fleetway. Obviously, there’s the whole Evil Super Sonic element (plus he’s been split off from Sonic, just like Fleetway eventually does), but also the entire idea of Sonic being lost in space reminds me of when he was lost in the Special Zone as well.
