Ok, Nathalie Fourdraine, Abigail Starling, and Aaron Hammerstrom are my favorite Sonic IDW artists so far; their art is so amazing! Also—Who tied up Belle?? Bet it was Clutch or his goons. Phantom Rider (aka Sonic) has such an amazing design.

Ok, Hear me out on my theory here: Eggman’s gonna mind control Sonic. Now, this probably doesn’t seem like an average thing BUT, why would Eggman just willingly help Sonic without some plot behind it? I think eggman put like a mind control device(Maybe he used a source from starlines lab from a few issues back?) in the suit sonic wears. It’s like frontiers; The more cyber energy sonic took on, the more courrputed he became. I think it’s the same here: The more he uses it, the more mind-controlled he’ll become, and eggman may be able to use him againist his friends or something. Idk but sorry this is a lengthly one :(.

I love the Rivalry picking up in this issue. I hope this leads into Starline’s vision of Surge “replacing” Sonic. it would make an interesting arc seeing Sonic misunderstood and seen as the bad guy since he was the Phantom Rider and everyone thinking Surge is the hero trying to get rid of him.

I don’t think that was a Goku reference so much as a Journey To The West reference. It was a monkey on a cloud because Sun Wukong is a mystical monkey on a cloud haha (That is the character that Goku is very losely based upon)

yknow i used to think the lanolin hate was crazy overblown (and let’s be real it kinda still is)
but when she causes much more destruction and hurts more people than sonic does during the race but everything is blamed on the phantom rider and no one even brings up how she put people in danger

and surge and kit getting genuine positive recognition for doing something good? even if it was just because surge is a freak and wanted smoke? real nice
i really hope this is the start of those two having a positive character arc

Nice issue! I really liked Surge’s spotlight and I really hope she changes character. I’m glad Jewel is self- conscious and seems to be suspicious. also, the way Jet looked at Surge seems like he’s planning revenge. the only things I didn’t like is that Amy’s character wasn’t good in this issue (then again, she’s all over the place at this point), and LANOLIN. At least she finally faced consequences. Also what could Belle possibly know that made Clutch do that? I really liked this issue overall, hope it continues to be good.

What I don’t understand is that Lanolin had Sonic’s team kicked out just because their gear malfunctioned so that everyone would be “safe” but she didn’t bat an eye at the giant race track of death that everyone had to survive. Then she smashed a giant hole in it and nearly got TONS of people hurt.

Lanolin acts as if she is better than Sonic and his friends. She went straight from random NPC to acting like she’s boss of everyone. I actually liked her before until after they met Belle. now she seems more like a jerk and less of a member of the Restoration. also, she should have used logical reasoning before she mindlessly attacked him. I’m just glad she finally learned something from her actions.

Theres so much to talk about– from the TMoStH reference to Surge and Kit experiencing true happiness for once🥲🥲 Also it seems someone else (Jewel) is finally also suspicious of Duo ? Not as great as the last issue, but definitely still fun! Sonic being a mischievous little no-gooder was really fun to see, Tails following Prq7qe’s advice for always checking the trash bin (and also him actually getting gum stuck in his fur) and you can’t forget Surge and Kit actually experiencing genuine happiness in what must be a really long time.
Poor Belle getting trapped (she doesn’t deserve it) and we might be getting a big crossover soon that’ll ACTUALLY be CANON to the series. Although, I do see them just pulling out the just funny filler card which would be sad, but understandable.
Still pretty excited to see what comes next.

Yeah Jewel, and the rest of the Diamond Cutters, have Mimic’s number and probably did from the beginning. They’re just stringing him along until he give them enough rope to hang him and Clutch with and just like Clutch is trying to use this race to take down the Restoration, The Restoration is using it to expose Clean Sweep and their flunkies.
